Talk About It Tuesday
The importance of learning cultural and racial history cannot be emphasized enough. Not only does it show us our mistakes and help us learn from them, but it can also help us find a sense of identity. Check out this BBC Documentary to learn more about Black British history!

On this “Talk About it Tuesday” we are taking a look at some of the horrors of the Slave Trade in order to better understand it’s history, and how it still effects cultures today. Throughout the month we will explore some of the repercussions that followed slavery and its abolition. ** TRIGGER WARNING: some themes in this video may be distressing of disturbing** |
The tragedy that was the slave trade, and the lasting effects and hardships that have happened as a repercussion, have not been taught about enough. On “Talk About It Tuesday”, we want to take some time to learn a bit more about that often skimmed-over history. |

To start our journey through “World-Wide Wednesday” we will first take some time to learn a bit more about the origins of the slave trade in Europe and The Americas, and how it resulted in the dehumanization and life-long enslavement of African people.

Due in large part to the African Slave Trade, influences of African culture can be found around the world. We will continue our exploration into some of those cultures, and some of the repercussions of the slave trade. We will continue our journey in Brazil.

Diversity Lifeline
Create a personal timeline on a piece of paper by drawing a long straight line and labeling the left end of the line "birthday" and the right end "today." Think about events in your life that have taught you about diversity and to mark those events on your timeline. When was the first time you met someone of a different race? Learned another language? Traveled far from home? Worked with someone of a different culture? Noticed a person who avoided you? Observed an incident you believe could have been related to bias or prejudice? |
